Sporting Schools funding is available for schools to deliver sport activities before, during or after school hours using one of our national sporting organisation (NSO) partners.
Sporting Schools offers two funding programs:
Once a school meets the registration and eligibility requirements, they can apply for funding. Funding applications are assessed according to:
NOTE: From Term 3, 2018, the program will prioritise applications for Primary School Grants.
To apply for Sporting Schools funding, all schools must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- be registered with Sporting Schools;
- provide valid bank details (name, account name, BSB and account number). Note, Account details can refer to the registered school’s general account or a department of education account in the event of a shared service arrangement (such as those currently in place for NSW and WA Department of Education schools)
- have no outstanding debts with the Australian Sports Commission, whether in relation to Sporting Schools or otherwise
- not be an organisation named by the National Redress Scheme for Institutional Child Sexual Abuse on its list of Institutions that have not joined or signified their intent to join the Scheme.
NOTE: Sporting Schools recognises that special schools and combined schools may have enrolled primary or secondary school aged students making them eligible to apply for both a primary and/or secondary school grant.
Primary School Grant
To receive a Primary School Grant, and possible Special Circumstances funding, schools must also:
- Have enrolled primary school-aged children; and
- Meet at least one of the following location or demographic special circumstances:
- Be a special school
- Have students enrolled with disability
- Be located in a regional or remote location, as determined by the Accessibility/Remoteness Index of Australia (ARIA+) category classification.
NOTE: Eligibility for the Special Circumstances Stipend is determined using the details provided during your school’s registration.
Secondary School Grant
To receive a Secondary School Grant, schools must also:
- Have enrolled Years 7 and/or 8 students; and
- Provide a Secondary School contact for the school.
To be eligible for Additional Support funding, schools need to satisfy at least one of the criteria below and provide reasons within the grant application for additional funding requested:
- Be a special school
- Have students enrolled with disability
- Be located in a regional or remote location, as determined by the Accessibility/Remoteness Index of Australia (ARIA+) category classification.
